Curator and writer George Vasey joins 2013 Bloomberg New Contemporaries artist Simon Senn to discuss the ethics and aesthetics of Senn’s practice within the wider context of the documentary form today. Simon Senn’s films deal with human behavior and patterns of interaction. His explorations of group dynamics and individual responses take place in contexts defined by the artist, including an artist’s talk, a friend’s bedroom and a South African housing project. Through his deliberately candid filming technique and other interventions Senn reveals and heightens existing tensions within a given social setting.
Simon Senn is an artist based in London. He has recently completed his MFA in Fine Art at Goldsmiths University of London (2011-13) and in 2011 he received a Swiss Art Award. Recent group and solo shows include Bloomberg New Contemporaries 2013 & 12; ‘Hyper Spiritism’, Galerie Nicola von Senger, Zurich.
